Supervisory Authority for Electronic Signatures

Welcome to the web site of Austria's supervisory authority for electronic signatures.

Since the Austrian Federal Electronic Signature Act (Signature Act, or SigG) went into effect on January 1, 2000, Telekom-Control Commission, the regulatory authority for the Austrian telecommunications market, has been responsible for supervisory activities under this new law.

Our web site is designed to allow easy access to the legal fundamentals of electronic signatures as well as basic technical information.

Certification-service-providers in Austria are required to report their services to the supervisory authority. Our web site thus also contains a full listing of all certification-service-providers. Providers and potential providers can also find information on reporting their activities here.

In the next days, the supervisory authority will also issue certificates to certification-service-providers and record their names in a maximum-security directory.

For a secure access to the supervisory authorities' web server we recommend to access this website via HTTPS. For this purpose you have to install the current top certificate of the supervisory authority in your browser. Please read also the further security information about accessing the supervisory authorities' directories.
